Hollywood Actress In Katie Holmes Gorgeous Red Roses Gown

Hollywood Actress In Katie Holmes Gorgeous Red Roses Gown. A dozen red roses is a traditional way to say “I Love You” on Valentine’s Day. This year, 23-year-old Joseph Massie used not one, but 1,725 red roses to create this stunning floral gown! He collaborated with supermarket chain Asda in their 2012 Valentine’s Day campaign, which reminded people to spread the love this year through flowers. When approached by Asda, Massie took on the challenge saying, “I wanted to embody everything a romantic bouquet of Valentine's Day flowers should be—classic, elegant and with a sexy twist."

The floral designer used petals from 1,000 Naomi red roses for the full body of the gown, 15 Carmen roses and 200 chrysanthemums, decorated with gold-leaf, along the hip and skirt of the dress, and petals from 150 purple roses, 75 gerberas, and 300 carnations for the hem. The dress took an incredible 170 hours to make! And the model topped off the flower-inspired look by wearing a pair of rose petal-covered stilettos.

And if you think 1,725 isn’t enough, check out the last photo. A man commissioned a dress for his fiancé to be made out of 9,999 roses. Why that number? Well in Chinese, pronunciation of the number “nine” sounds similar to the word “forever” so the couple considers the dress to be a symbol of their commitment to each other.
